H. "Geno" Gene Covert
Obituary
H. Gene “Geno” Covert, 88, quietly entered Heaven Sunday, January 22, 2023, leaving behind his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita “Neat” Taylor, whom he married July 31, 1960; two children: Lacy “Lucky” (Jewel) Covert and Kevin (Julia) Covert; five grandchildren: Clint, Elijah “E”, Gabriella, Barron and Jasmine; special nieces: Melinda (Pat) Covert Snyder and Tonya (Warner) Taylor; sisters-in-law Maxine Taylor and Elva Taylor; and “friends who are family”.
He was born June 4, 1934, in Zanesville to the late Paul and Edna Kirkman Covert. Geno was a member of the Maranatha Bible Church for over 50 years. He retired from Armco Steel, which is now Cliff’s, after 42 years. He was a 1952 graduate of Lash High School.
He loved coordinating July 4th fireworks for family and friends and the event would get bigger each year. He was able to repair anything that was broken and if Gene couldn’t fix it, then it couldn’t be fixed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jim (Mary) Covert and mother-in-law Mary Taylor.
Calling hours will be from 11:30AM to 1PM Saturday, January 28 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. A Memorial Remembrance service will begin at 1PM in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. A cremation will follow the service.
