ZANESVILLE
James Arlen “Jay” Moorehead, 56 passed away on Wednesday May 16, 2018 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born October 16, 1961 in Zanesville to William “Bill” and Evelyn Reynolds Moorehead. Jay graduated from Maysville High School and retired from AK Steel after 25 years of employment. He enjoyed cooking, watching Nascar on Sundays, hanging out with family, traveling to the beach and loved listening to music. Jay was a loving father and grandfather and loved storms and campfires. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his father William “Bill” Moorehead; a daughter Katie (Leighton) Moorehead; his wife Vickie Shanks Moorehead; three grandchildren: Karsynn, Kamrie and Kingston; three step children: Sabrina Rice, Beth Rice and Mike (Marcie) Rice; eight step grandchildren; two sisters: Cathy (Ronnie) Orwig and Mary Lou (Dan) Labaki; and a brother Mark Connell.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Bill Connell and Matthew Moorehead; and his grandparents.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8PM Thursday, May 17, 2018 and one hour prior to services on Friday May 18 2018 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will begin at 11AM on Friday in the Snouffer Chapel. Burial will follow in Poplar Forks Cemetery.
