John William Wise Jr., 74, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2017, surrounded by family after a long courageous battle with cancer at The Pickering House in Lancaster. John was born March 26, 1943. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp and served our country in Vietnam.
John was an avid musician, worked at Mar Zane for many years and attended South Zanesville Methodist Church. He was a Mason, a member of the Muskingum County Country Music Hall of Fame, the O.C.W.M.A., Amrou Grotto and a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed RV camping and could fix anything.
He is survived by his wife Connie S. Scott Wise; son John Gregory (Lora) Wise of Lancaster; grandson Noah Wise; a brother Robert L. “Bob” (Sharon) Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents John W. and Nellie O. Persinger Wise; a brother James Willard Wise and two sisters: Dorothy Jean Wise and Sylvia Mechling-Packard.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8PM, Thursday, September 14, 2017 and one hour prior to the services at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD. Funeral service will be held at 2PM, Friday, September 15, 2017 in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Paul Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Stockport Cemetery with full military honors.
