ZANESVILLE
Russell Ruland Cleaveland, 88, of Zanesville, formerly of Roseville, passed away on Thursday April 26, 2018 at Clay Gardens Place.
Russell was born in Hamden, New York on February 20, 1930 to the late Levi Ray and Laura West Cleaveland. He had two Bachelor’s Degrees, Mathematics and Education. He taught Math in Roseville for many years and also drove school bus. Following his teaching career he joined the Teamsters and became a truck driver and a CDL instructor. He was Past Master of Roseville Masonic Lodge F. &A.M., Roseville Lions Club, Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star in Roseville, enjoyed golf and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. He proudly served our country and protected our freedom in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann “RAZ” Johnston Cleaveland; son Dale (Terry) Cleaveland; two daughters: Susan (Kenneth) Myers and Sharon Shiplett; five step daughters: Linda (Bob Hinds) Gall, Karen (Richard) Rombauer, Joyce (Jim) Duren, Cathy (Tom) Carney, and Debbie Zimmerman; brother John Cleaveland; sister Elaine Barker; sister in law Ruth Mazarus; special niece Tina Mazarus; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Tinker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Wease Cleaveland ; two sons in law Clyde Shiplett and Ron Gall; four brothers: Vincent, Grover, Adelbert and Neil.

Calling hours will be 1-6 P.M. on Sunday April 29 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11am in The Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Nathan Nordine officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Roseville.
