Welcome to the memorial page for

William Allen Cummins

April 30, 1947 ~ August 10, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Our dearest friend, brother, mentor and confidante, William Allen Cummins, 70, transcended on Thursday, Aug 10, 2017 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House.  He was born April 30, 1947, the son of William L. and Emma G. (Allen) Cummins.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Zanesville and graduated from Zanesville High School in 1965 where he was a member of the Blue Knights.  He fulfilled a call to duty in Vietnam in the Army Airborne Division Special Operations Unit from 1967-1968 with a wit and candor that aided in his survival and intertwined with a lifelong philosophical development.  He was awarded several medals during his service, including the Bronze Star.  Bill was a member of The Masonic Lodge in Chandlersville and the VFW.

Bill was a gifted self-taught saxophone player.  In the 1970’s, he toured with the Crowd Pleasers and the Chancellors before continuing his personal and professional pursuits.  Always passionate about fulfilling each task laid before him, he was an avid researcher, quick learner, and an expert craftsman with unparalleled attention to detail.  Known throughout the community as an expert carpenter and exquisite painter, there was no task beyond his ability and clever problem-solving mind.  Bill loved to enrich his vocabulary and was constantly striving to find the perfect descriptive word to use.

Bill will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  He is survived by two sisters Dixie (Floyd) Komaromy and Gloria Jean Campbell; step daughter Erin Clayton; three nephews Andrew (Debbie) Komaromy, Jeffrey Komaromy and Troy (Christine) Cummins; grand nephew Zachery (Shannon) Komaromy; and two grand-nieces Allison Komaromy and Emma Cummins.  He also leaves behind his very special friend Tana Lantry, and many close friends who he valued and treasured. Respected by everyone who knew him, he was known for his kind heart and quiet, gentle manner.  Children adored him.  To know Bill was to hold a special place for him in your heart.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn Cummins, and his infant son William Joshua Cummins.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held Wednesday, 23 August 2017 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE, with a Gathering at 5:00pm and a Service at 6:00pm.  Friends are welcome to send photos for a slide show to office@snoufferfuneralhome.com by August 22, and are encouraged to share memories during the service.
