Austin Dale Hooper, 72, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his residence. He was born August 8, 1951, in McConnelsville to the late Arthur and Donna “Grace” Wetherell Hooper. Dale was a 1969 graduate of Morgan High School. He served his country and protected our freedom in the United States Army for 39 years. He was employed by U-Haul. He was a member of the NRA, Zanesville Rifle Club, Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association and a lifelong member of the North American Hunting Club. Dale enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and telling jokes.

He is survived by his wife Judy Paul Hooper; his only child Trish (John) Maxwell; two brothers: Allen (Jeanne) Hooper and Jim (Vivian) Hooper; a sister Jean (Ron) Hoyt; two grandchildren: Jena (Rocky Chevalier) Maxwell and J.D. (Bailee Ogg) Maxwell; one great grandchild Maverick Chevalier, who was the love of his life; and several brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws Tommy and Margaret Soller Paul; aunt Betty Wetherell; brothers in law: Frank Mehling and Mark Fulk; sister-in-law Janet (Marvin) Robinson; nephew Ben Hoyt; nieces: Heather Robinson and Tammy Robinson; a great nephew Alex Stroahacker; and his beloved cat Ella.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you for the exceptional care that was giving by Brenda and Karen.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7PM, Thursday, May 16, 2024, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, May 17, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Father Dave Young as celebrant. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park with full military honors.
