Debra Guss Obituary

Forever remembered, we are announcing that our Debbie Sue Guss, daughter, mother, grandmother, devoted nurse, and garden master, 68, of Zanesville, Ohio, was called to be with her Lord on December 29, 2021.

Debbie was born December 22, 1953. She graduated per tradition at Bishop Rosecrans High School. She earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from Ohio University Zanesville, and exuded immense dedication to her faith, her work, community, family, and friends. Being confirmed Catholic was something that was very important to her. Before work each morning she woke up early to “say my prayers.” She loved nursing and was devoted to her patients. She was so proud in being a member of the Muskingum Valley Garden Society, as their Secretary.

Debbie was a tremendous volunteer at the Mission Oaks Gardens, particularly enjoying responding to mail from children at the fairy garden, and eager to help with children’s education. Each holiday season she coordinated decorating many beautiful pots downtown. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends in her monthly card club. Giving to others was always at the forefront of her mind. She believed in the goodness of everyone, and always said to “let people do nice things for you.” So much more can be said about this remarkable woman.

She was the beloved mother to her three daughters, Abby, Angie, and Amy Guss; as well as daughter Ethel Krieg, son Ronald Wyer, Jr., granddaughter, Eliza Krieg, and granddog Tubbs. She will be deeply missed by her mother Margaret Trout, and her two brothers, Tony (Charlotte) Trout and Mike Trout. Debbie is predeceased by her father, Enos Trout. She will be remembered as Auntie Deb by her cherished nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by her beloved chihuahua, Pepe.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In keeping with her wishes, no funeral services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to the Muskingum Valley Garden Society, P.O. Box 2688, Zanesville, OH 43702.

...if you have faith as small as a mustard seed…Nothing will be impossible for you. – Matthew 17:20
