Ethel Ann Ray, 92, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. She was born December 27, 1932, in Zanesville, to the late Carl E. and Nellie M. Eby Ray.
Ethel was the treasurer of Sharon Avenue Free Methodist Church. She also volunteered for Genesis, where she made baby hats; and she also volunteered countless hours for various churches.
She is survived by her daughter Erin Hayes; sisters: Rachel Ray, Edna Bowers and Carolyn Farson; a brother David Ray; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her children: Randall Harter, Matthias Harter, Delmar Bateson, Deana Kirkbride and Kenda Murvine; sisters: Nellie M. Alexander, Carleen Hall, Mary Brooks and Clara Geddes; and brothers: Carl C. Ray, Fred E. Ray and John E. Ray.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice Morrison House, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
Private graveside services will be held at Iliff Cemetery. THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE, has the distinct honor of serving the family. The Snouffer Crematory has been entrusted with cremation care.
