George Mesre, 79, of Zanesville, OH passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Genesis Hospice Care (Morrison House) after 11 days at Grant Medical Trauma Center.
George was born on October 19, 1944, in Zanesville to the late Samuel and Mary Makhool-Mesre. George was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the VFW Post 1058.
George’s passion was taking care of his family throughout the years, having breakfast with his buddies at The Eagles, countless dinners at Rooster’s, and being a great friend to many. He never met a stranger and was always looking out for others.
He is survived by his son, Samuel Mesre; his daughter Jodi Witte (Rich); two granddaughters: Anna Witte-Martin and Rachel Witte; a special partner Joyce McInturf; and an endless list of amazing friends whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother’s Mose Mesre, Nick Mesre, Herb Mesre; and three sisters: Yvonne Mesre, Josephine Mesre, and Marguarite Mesre.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Grant Medical Trauma Center for their outstanding care and compassion during a very difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Genesis Hospice Care (Morrison House), 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701.
Calling hours will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will be held same day at 12:30 pm in the Snouffer Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
