Heather Sterling Obituary

Heather Margaret Sterling, 33, of Columbus, Ohio and formerly Zanesville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 8, 2021, as a result of unusual complications of a splenic aneurysm and COVID-19. Heather was born on January 31, 1988, in Zanesville, Ohio to LaBrenda Gullett of Tampa, Florida and Heath Sterling (Paula) of Orlando, Florida, both formerly of Zanesville, Ohio. Heather graduated from West Muskingum High School in 2006 and graduated from Valencia College with an Associate’s degree. She was Legal Operations Analyst with JPMorgan Chase Bank Corporate Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Heather is survived by her 9-year-old son, Ayden Thompson; sister, Haley Sterling (Matthew Kanitra) of West Lafayette, Indiana; her maternal grandmother, Lala Gullett of Zanesville; paternal grandmother Roseanna Sterling; aunt Ronda Gullett-Prindle (Henry Knaup), both of Zanesville; her uncle Matthew Gullett of Tampa, Florida; cousins: Marcus Prindle of Zanesville, Kailen Johnson of Miami, Florida, Averie Cronin of Zanesville, Ohio; her sweetheart, Christopher Burt of Columbus; many dear aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to list and her son’s father, Faron Thompson (Danielle Chaney). She also leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Great Dane Lexi Lu, and cat, Grayson.

Heather was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Glenn Gullet; paternal grandfather Larry Sterling; maternal great-grandparents Dorothy and Clyde Dodson; paternal great grandmothers: Betty Himmelspach and Mary Ann Moreland-Sterling-Fling; and an uncle, who she called her “second father,” Jason Prindle.

Heather was deeply loved by all those around her and known for her love of family, her determination, wonderful sense of humor, loving nature and kindness to all. We are mourning our great loss but know that Heather will be watching over all of us, especially her son, Ayden with whom she shared a very special mother-son bond.

It was Heather’s wish to be an organ donor; however, due to COVID-19, she was unable to do so.

Friends and family may call on Friday, June 11, 2021, from 12PM to 2PM and 4PM to 6PM at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral service will begin at 6PM in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Jamie Harrop officiating. Additionally, there will be a celebration of Heather’s life at the American Legion, 27 South Third St., Zanesville, following the services. Heather’s mother and sister kindly request all attendees to please wear a mask due in part to their proximity to COVID-19. Masks will be provided for those who do not have one.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to an investment account for Heather’s 9-year-old son, Ayden, in care of Heather’s sister, Haley Sterling, via the following: a donation box at the viewings and celebration of life, PayPal (Friends and Family) at missxxhaley@gmail.com; Venmo @haleymariesterling; or Zelle at (863) 243-8102.
