James Madden Obituary

James Madden, 94, of Zanesville went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2022


He was born on June 30, 1927, in Perry County, Ohio. He grew up learning how to farm in Perry County before moving to the Adamsville area in 1946 with his family. In 1948, he met Violet Brothers and they married on March 18, 1950. They were married for 66 years until she went to be with the Lord. He farmed for all his life. Jim enjoyed being outdoors, raising farm animals, woodworking projects, landscaping, gardening, and being with his family. In 2003, the Ohio Bicentennial Commission selected his barn for Muskingum County to dedicate and celebrate Ohio’s 200th birthday. He was also a member of the Sonora United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his four children: Harold (Malinda) Madden, Don (Brenda) Madden, Linda McKenna, and Ron (Kim) Madden. He has nine grandchildren: Martie Dusenbery, James Madden, Carolyn Baker, Kelly Bires, Matt Madden, Michelle Shroyer, Caleb Madden, Jacob Madden and Mikala Madden; two step great grandchildren Blaize and Blandon Baker; twenty-one great grandchildren Ethan, Aidan, Ian, Evan, Owan, Aaran, Ashtan, Andersan, and Olivia Dusenbery, Alyssia Madden, Gunner Baker, Jocelyn Baker, Brinley Bires, Tate Bires, Haley Madden, Myles Madden, Adalynn Madden, Easton Madden, Brooks Madden, Harper Stall, and Dallas Mason. Two nephews Gene Cooper and Roy Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Violet Madden; parents, James and Jane Madden; one sister Dorothy Baughman; and one grandchild Jessie May Madden.

Calling hours will be from 5-7pm Sunday May 15, 2022, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD. Funeral service will be held on Monday May 16, 2022, at 2pm in the Snouffer Chapel. Burial to follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
