James W. “Jim” Moorehead, 89, passed away Thursday December 30, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was born December 3, 1932 in Junction City, OH to the late Charles Morehead and Velma Spitzer Morehead. Jim was a Navy Veteran, a member of the American Legion #29, VFW #1058, The 40/8 Veterans Club and Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame. Jim honored all Veterans, especially his brother Robert “Bob” Morehead, who died in WWII. Jim would give speeches on various holidays and place flags on all Veteran graves at area cemeteries. Jim worked and retired as an Architect and taught Architectural drawing. He also was owner and operator of Ava Brick Factory. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Faith Speelman Moorehead; Children, Ricky (Margaret) Moorehead, Terry (Debbie) Moorehead, Joanna (Rick) Lowry and Faith Jeanine (Steve) Stover; 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Carol Moorehead. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 children, Mark Moorehead and Kevin Moorehead; 2 grandchildren, Matt and Jennifer; brothers, Chuck Morehead and Robert “Bob” Morehead; a sister Gertrude Morgan; 2 daughters-in-law, Anna Granillo and Machala Moorehead. Memorial services will be held on Saturday January 8, 2022 at 1 PM at the First Church of God, 1930 Newark Rd. Zanesville, OH 43701, where friends will be received from 12 noon until time of service.
