Joseph A. Ritchey Sr. (12-14-1937, 1-14-2021)

Joseph A. Ritchey Sr. family patriarch and longtime Zanesville business leader passed on to be with our Lord on Thursday January 14, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Emma, and siblings Leonard, Donald, Thomas, John and Mary.  He is survived by his wife Barbara, his children Joe Ritchey Jr, Mary Miller, Kathy Ritchey, Christy Grear, Becky Sargent, and Stephanie Fredrick as well as their spouses, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and siblings Elizabeth, Emma, Rose, Marilyn, Paul, Patrick, Frances along with their spouses, children and grandchildren. Joseph’s love and caring for both his immediate and extended family was always evident.  

 Joseph was the long time CEO of Ritchey Sign Company where he employed hundreds of people throughout several decades. He always considered his employees his extended family and enjoyed mentoring them. 

.He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, where over the years he served in many roles, as an Usher, Lector, Parish Council Member, and Youth Leader.

Whether it be his family, fellow church members, his employees or even those who served him at his favorite restaurants, his genuine love and caring for all he encountered in his life, will be his legacy. 

There will be a private burial with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in his name.
