Kenneth George VanMeter, 63 passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side after a courageous battle with early onset Alzheimer’s. He was born February 9, 1957 in Ohio to the late Edwin Paul and Lydia Barthule VanMeter. He started in 1979 as an apprentice electrician for the IBEW #1105 and retired in 2015. He was very active in the IBEW #1105 union as an organizer and on the apprenticeship board. Kenny was a former mayor of Roseville and an activist for pedestrian safety in Zanesville.
Surviving are his wife Lori Ervin VanMeter; a son Chad (Amanda) VanMeter of Ashville; a daughter Meghan (Kent) Wolfinger of Zanesville; several brothers and sisters; three grandchildren: Brooklyn Su VanMeter, Payton Rose VanMeter and Samuel Kenneth Wolfinger; and mother and father in law Robert and Jean Ervin of Zanesville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings: Victor VanMeter, John VanMeter, Peggy Kopis, Virginia Ervin and Carol VanMeter; and a niece Shayla Ervin.
Kenneth and Lori have given many pets over the years a loving home so they are asking that memorial contributions be made to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, OH 43701.
