Margaret Elaine Keys, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on November 1, 2025. Margaret was born on April 29, 1929, in Irondale, OH, to the late Homer and Gladys Martin. As a child her family moved to Newell, West Virginia, where she grew up. She attended Wells High School, graduating in 1947.
Margaret, who went by Peggy, met Richard Keys in 1952 on a blind date. They married in 1953 and relocated to Zanesville, where they raised two children, Lori and Brian. Peggy enjoyed bowling, golf, and gardening. She was a 60-year member of Muskingum Chapter #485 of the Eastern Star and actively supported local charities. She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Keith) Meadows; and her son, Brian Keys; four grandchildren: Cody (Ameilia) Meadows, Macy (Michael) Flowers, Emily Keys and Sarah (Glenn) Reindl; a great-granddaughter, Mia Flowers; and a sister, Carol Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Richard Keys; and four siblings: Winfred Martin, Pauline Carnes, Homer Martin, Jr., and Benjamin Martin.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, at 3867 Northpointe Drive, Zanesville, or Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 830 Military Road, Zanesville.
In accordance with her wishes, a private service will be held.
