ZANESVILLE

Margie B. Leake, 99, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born November 7, 1922 in Caldwell to the late Carlos and Effie May Buckey Mahaffey. She graduated from Hopewell High School and retired from the Muskingum County Library. She was a loyal member of the Mount Sterling United Methodist Church and helped with the Mount Sterling Pantry until she was 95. Margie was a Girl Scout Leader, a great seamstress and gardener, loved to read and attended all of her grandkids sporting events.

She is survived by her children: Linda Omen, Bobbi (Randy) Prevo, Bill (Julie) Leake and Kelly Leake-Tucker; a brother Robert Mahaffey; a sister Emma Jean Partlow; eight grandchildren; Craig (Erin) Omen, Alison (Mike) Sowards, Jennifer (Richie) Leake, Jordanne (Trent) Hirschi, Shala (Giovani) Cubias, Matt (Janet) Brinkley, Michelle Godwin, Melanie Pettitt, Kalani (Eric) Berry; 25 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William R. Leake; four brothers: Donald, Richard, James and Sammy Mahaffey; a sister Ruth Mahaffey; son in law Ray Omen; a granddaughter Amie Tucker and grandson in law Jeff Godwin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Sterling Food Pantry, 8185 Hopewell National Road, Zanesville, OH 43701.
