Marian Eleanor (Dickerson) Schaffer

Marian Eleanor (Dickerson) Schaffer, 94 passed away peacefully August 29, 2020 in Shafter, CA, after a heartbreaking battle with Dementia. She was born on October 28, 1925 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio.

Marian attended Lash High School in Zanesville before moving to Newark in 1943. She was a 1944 graduate of Newark High School.  She loved her church choir and her church family at Central Trinity Methodist in Zanesville. On August 11, 1946 Marian married Frank C. Schaffer of Cambridge; Frank was the love of her life. They loved to dance to the music of the big bands. Following his death, Marian moved to Tucson, Arizona where she lived until 2016, when she moved to Bakersfield, California.

She is survived by her sons: Dan and daughter-in-law Kathleen, of Bakersfield, California and Mike and daughter-in-law Eileen of Tucson, Arizona. Marian was greatly loved by her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild, which includes: grandson Jon Schaffer of Culver City, California and granddaughter Kathy Lowe of Chandler, Arizona; great grandchildren: Kelcey Schaffer, Natalie Lowe, Frank Lowe and Tim Lowe; grandchildren: Sergeant Major Jared Schaffer, U.S. Army; Matthew Schaffer of Columbus and Lauren Scott of Pensacola, FL; and a great great grandson Troy. She is also survived by a brother Ronald Dickerson of Dayton. Frank and Marian left a legacy of faith for their children.

Graveside service will be held at 1PM Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Zanesville Memorial Park.
