Mary Gibbs Obituary

Mary Mellvina Gibbs, 96, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born April 18, 1928, in Bearfield Township, Perry County, Ohio, to the late Floyd Emery and Regina Louise Spangler Ervin.

Mary was a 1946 graduate of Lash High School. She worked in the cafeteria at Wilson School. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader and volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital for many years, where dedicated over 1000 hours. She enjoyed playing bingo at the Senior Center, knitting, quilting, crocheting, an avid reader and listening to country music.

She is survived by her son Sheldon D. (Kathy) Gibbs; two daughters: Happie R. Bryan and Georgia (Blane) Logan; five grandchildren: Donovan Glass, Jason (Jackie) Glass, Daniel Gibbs, Blain Logan and Sherri Carson; and 10 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George E. Gibbs, who passed away August 6, 2010; two brothers: Floyd N. Ervin and James E. Ervin; and a grandson Matthew Gibbs.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11AM on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE.  The funeral service will begin at 11AM in The Snouffer Chapel with Rev. Larry Kudart officiating.  Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
