ZANESVILLE
Paul D. Dearth, 92, of Zanesville, passed away Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at 6:45am at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born September 21, 1931, in Cambridge to the late Emery and Ada Dearth. A 1950 graduate of Lore City High School, Mr. Dearth retired as a Superintendent of the Guernsey County Home and previously worked at NCR Corporation in Cambridge, Ohio.
Mr. Dearth was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a longtime trustee and taught Sunday school. He enjoyed woodworking and target shooting. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
He married Lois Mae Watson on October 1, 1950, and they enjoyed 73 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Kathryn (Kevin) Cunningham of Norwich and Mariann (Thomas) Honkus of Zanesville; four grandchildren: Dr. Kyle (Jessica) Cunningham of Charlotte, NC, Keith (Ryann) Cunningham of Marysville, OH, Paul (Ayano) Honkus of Aomori, Japan and Laura Honkus of Stow, OH; and five great grandchildren: Lian, Cora, Carolyn, Lucy and Anne Cunningham.
He also leaves three sisters in law: Ruth (James) Hoops, Barbara (Duane) Meek and Beverly (James) Murphy; as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends Tom and Carol Harper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert (Nina) Dearth; two sisters: Mary Dee (Harold) McVicker and Anne (Richard) Swick; sister in law Eleanor Blackstone and brother in law Howard (Bernadette) Watson.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4PM Friday, November 10 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to services at 11AM, Saturday, November 11. The funeral will begin at 11AM in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Karen Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, OH.
