Robert “Bob” Hanson, 68, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born December 29, 1955, in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Wiley and Virginia Stout Hanson. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and construction. He enjoyed painting gnomes and woodworking was his passion. He could build anything, especially things with intricate detail. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing the drums, telling stories and was great with kids. He also loved classic rock. Robert served his country and protected our rights in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his son Ryan Hanson; three daughters: Ashley Hanson, Teresa Barrows-Bennett and Emily Barrows-Bradley; a brother Michael Hanson; five sisters: Sharon Hanson, Bonnie Mercer, Terry Tokie, Tina Hanson (TJ) and Lacy Russell; grandchildren: Aleigha, Kiah, Clayton, Kiersten, Nicholas, Grace, Molly and Seth; and one great grandchild Nixion; and a host of other friends, nieces, nephews, family, cousins, a special cousin, John York; and his ex-wife and special friend Christy Kinder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Timothy Hanson, Patrick Hanson and Claude Hanson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice Morrison House, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701.
