ZANESVILLE
Robert Owen Palmer, 77, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Genesis Morrison House. He was born February 4, 1943 in Zanesville to the late Donald Franklin and Mary Gladys Carolus Palmer. He received his Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. He was a fifth grade teacher for 30 years, at Wilson Elementary School, where he was awarded the Outstanding Young Educator Award by the Jaycees. He was a member of the Muskingum County Democrats Club and the State Teachers Union. He enjoyed NASCAR, the Buckeyes, tractor pulling, gardening and camping. He was a handyman, and with twist ties and duct tape, could fix anything.
Surviving are his wife, Betty L. Reed Palmer; a son Robert K. (Sue) Palmer; a daughter Lori D. (Craig) Elliott; three sisters: Helen Bennett, Doris Groves and Mary Alice King; five grandchildren: Misty Palmer, Jeremy Palmer, Brittany Palmer, Brandy Palmer and Owen Robinson; and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers: Franklin Palmer, Bernard Palmer and Harry Palmer; and a sister Marjorie Hawkinberry.
A memorial service will be held at 1PM Saturday, March 21, 2020 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. MILITARY ROAD with Eric Schmeider officiating via Skype.
