Robert L. “Bob” Jewett, 89, passed away at Willow Haven Care Center on Thursday, September 4, 2025. He was born November 5, 1935, in Zanesville to the late John C. and Lillian Collins Jewett. He was a graduate of Lash High School and retired as a Maintenance Crew Leader from Armco. He was a former member of the Armco Veterans Club and Washington Township Fire Department. Bob was a master woodworker and well known for his fine craftsmanship in building toy boxes, baby cribs, and houses. He was known throughout the area as an excellent Horseshoe Pitcher and went on to win the undisputed title as 2015 World Horseshoe Champion.
He is survived by his wife Shirley M. Howell Jewett; children: Larry (Michele) Jewett and Linda (John) Carpenter; two brothers: Russell Jewett and William “Bill” Jewett; four grandchildren Jeremy Jewett, Jordan Jewett, Scott (Jillian) Carpenter, Matthew (Canarissia) Carpenter; two great grandchildren Fox Carpenter and Finn Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews. .
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Gilmerr.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm on Wednesday September 10 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will be held at 4pm in the Snouffer Chapel with Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Cremation Care has been entrusted to the Snouffer Crematory.
