Robert "Sibb" Gordon Sibbring

February 4, 1938 ~ March 17, 2021 (age 83)


Robert Gordon “Sibb” Sibbring, 83, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born February 4, 1938 in Zanesville to the late Cyril J. and Sarah S. Silverwood Sibbring. Sibb was a 1956 graduate of Zanesville High School, where he excelled in football and became an All Ohioan in 1955. He was recruited by legendary coach Woody Hayes, to play at The Ohio state University, where he played football for three years. Following his graduation from college he became a real estate broker in Winter Park, Florida for 46 years. He enjoyed building and showing street rods and won several trophies. He was a member of Lafayette Lodge F. & A.M. for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Weaver Sibbring; two daughters: Barbara (Alan) Ranck and Alice Sibbring; two grandchildren: Matthew Clifton and Brittany (Evan Moss) Clifton; three great grandsons: Casen, Jaxson and Tripp Moss.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Donald A. Sibbring.

Sibb is going to be buried in a sweater given to him by Woody Hayes for his dedication to attend all spring practice training sessions. His request is that everyone attending, wear your favorite Ohio State attire.

Calling hours will be from 11AM to 2PM Friday, March 19, 2021 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE.  Masonic services will be at 1:45PM and the funeral will begin at 2PM with Pastor Tom Borrows officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
