Russell E. Mendenhall, 72, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Ohio State University East. He was born May 25, 1950, in Chesterhill to the late James and Vera Michener Mendenhall. He was a graduate of Morgan High School. He was with the Operating Engineer Union and ran heavy equipment for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #29 in Zanesville. Russ loved to hunt pheasant and fish with his dog Susie. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was camping, snow mobiling or riding four wheelers. He served our country and protected our freedom in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Kathie J. Lloyd Mendenhall; three daughters: Michelle (David) Domostoy, Shelly Carnes and Dustie (Jason) Gheen; a brother: Berl (Jane) Mendenhall; eight grandchildren: Dana, Kristy, David Jr., Justin, Jordan, Jacob, Trey, Cylus and Grayson; six great grandchildren: Jazmynn, Daelin, Dillon, Julean, Logan and Blake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Brent Mendenhall and his first wife Carol.
Calling hours will be 1 to 2PM, August 2, 2022, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will proceed at 2PM in the Snouffer Chapel with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. Continued food and fellowship will immediately follow in the Snouffer reception hall.
