Scott D Johnston, age 67, passed away on Saturday, July 17th, 2021, at 8:15 pm at Genesis Hospital.
Scott was born on December 26th, 1953, to the late Donald and Florence (Heggie) Johnston in Wilkinsburg, PA. He proudly served in the US Army during Operation Desert Storm with the 342nd MP Company out of Zanesville, OH. Upon returning from Desert Storm, Scott resumed his career with the Zanesville Police Department, retiring after 22 years as a Detective in 2011. He also operated TSD Karate for 20 years in the Zanesville area, teaching many students the love of karate. Scott was an avid fly fisherman, loved to go shooting, traveling and spending time with his family. Scott was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Scott is survived by his wife of 28 years Roxanne (Miller) Johnston. They were married on February 14th, 1993, Valentine’s Day in honor of his parents. He is also survived by his sons: Zachary Johnston, Robb Huntsman and Cole (Lauren) Johnston; four grandsons: Michael and Alex Huntsman, Noah and Nathan Johnston; sister-in-law Deborah Johnston; many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved very much and his cat Zoey Grace.
He is preceded in death by his siblings: Stuart and Steven Johnston and Christine Siefert.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 1 to 4pm at Rolling Plains Church with Pastor John Alice giving a eulogy at 4pm. After the service, military honors will take place by the VFW Post 1058. Scott will be laid to rest at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
A note of love from the family: Although Scott’s journey may be over on Earth, we find comfort and peace knowing that he knew Jesus and is in heaven. We know we will all see him again one day.
