Shirley Mae Jewett, 89, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026, at Community Hospice Truman House. She was born June 15, 1937, in Zanesville to the late Edgar D. and Iona Davis Howell. She was a graduate of Zanesville High School. She was an avid Cleveland Guardian fan; enjoyed crafts, puzzles, word searches and Disney World.
She is survived by her children: Larry (Michele) Jewett from Bartow, Florida and Linda (John) Carpenter from Tuscarawas, Ohio; a brother Jerry Howell; four grandchildren: Scott (Jillian) Carpenter, Matthew (Canarissia) Carpenter, Jacob Bird and Jeremiah Bird; two great grandchildren: Fox Carpenter and Finn Carpenter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. “Bob” Jewett, who passed away September 4, 2025; and her brother James C. Howell.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2PM, Saturday, July 11, 2026, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will be held at 2PM in the Snouffer Chapel with Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Cremation Care has been entrusted to the Snouffer Crematory.
