Our beloved Sumie sunshine has passed to the other side, she said she was greeted by her ancestors when she died.
Sumie Shiraishi Cherry 87 loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully in her home on 12-12-21.
Sumie was born in Tokyo and raised in Kobe City, Japan. She was a graduate of Kobe Shoin School for Girls where she was a Badmitton Champion. She met an American GI at her mother's restaurant and left Japan for America. Where she worked at The Match Factory for 19 years and Owen's Illinois Brockway for 47 years. She loved working and took pride in her work. Her Co-Workers were like family to her. She worked until she was 87 years old. She was a fashion queen, always dressed pristine. She loved her flowers when she wasn't working, she spent time in her garden.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Donald Ballard, Lerory Ballard (son), Nobuo and Hanai Shiraishi (parents), Glenn and Blanch Cherry (Mother and Father in law).
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Clyde Cherry; her children: Don Ballard (Kathy Ballard) Patty Bradley (Jeff Ball), Kathleen Vanhoose (Terry Vanhoose) and Gale Clark (Jeff Clark); grandchildren: Donald Ballard Jr, Jerra Sayles, Jody Bradley, Jamie Werkman, Lee Ann Ballard, Erin Clark; nine great grandchildren and her beloved dog Peppie.
Don't cry for me for now I'm flying free I'll love you all until eternity.
