Suzanne Jane (Smith) Collins

Suzanne Jane Collins, 89, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at Brookdale Kenwood Assisted Living in Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was born June 30, 1935, in Canton, Ohio to the late Willard W. and Ellen J. Pierce Smith. She was employed as a Teacher’s Aide in Zanesville City Schools for many years and loved working with the children and bringing joy to the classrooms.  She was always willing to help, volunteer in any way for the many charities and organizations she worked with. Many neighbors, friends and family were the recipients of her love of baking.  She was always looking for new recipes while keeping true to her standard favorites.  She enjoyed many years as devoted Girl Scout leader in Zanesville. 

She is survived by her daughters: Debra (Dave) Collins Burgess and Diana Collins; a brother Joe (Mary Sue) Smith; a sister Sandra Abel; two grandchildren: Michael (Nicole) Burgess and Alex Burgess; and five great grandchildren: Claire Burgess, Briella Burgess, Quinn Burgess, Brogan Pleiman, and Sam Pleiman. 

In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death her husband of 62 years, Ralph Wilbur Collins, who passed away December 2, 2017.

Suzanne was a member of Faith United Methodist.

Private family visitation and services will be at the family’s convenience. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio. THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE, has the distinct honor of serving the family.
