William Arlen Moorehead,89, of Zanesville went Home to be with the Lord on Friday April 29, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born in Gratiot, Ohio on May 10, 1932, to the late Charles C. and Lillie Burrier Moorehead. He graduated from Hopewell High School and retired from AK Steel with over 40 years of dedicated service. He also did concrete work in the summer and plowing snow in the winter. He was a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 29, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1058. Most of all family was Bill’s greatest love especially playing Old Maid and Checkers with his grandchildren. You could always find Bill on his back porch with a cold Budweiser. Bill served our Country and protected our Freedom as a Medic in The United States Army in Korea.
He is survived by his a granddaughter Katie (Leighton) Wetzel and their three children: Karsynn Wetzel, Kamrie Wetzel and Kingston Wetzel; three step children: Kathy (Ronnie) Orwig, Mary Lou (Dan) Labaki and Mark Connell; step grandchildren: Julie Labaki, Brent (Tammy) Orwig, Brandy Payne, Bradley (Chasity) Connell, Amber ( Nick) Jarrett, Jeremy (Stefanie) Connell, Kenny (Mindy) Connell, Sabrina Rice, Beth Rice and Mike (Marcie) Rice; a daughter in law : Vickie Moorehead; a step daughter in law: Janet Connell; 19 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and special neighbors and dear friends Bob (Brenda) Stottsberry and Richard (Karen) Fulkerson.
In addition to his son, he will be reunited in Heaven by his wife Evelyn Moorehead, his sons: James “Jay” Moorehead and Matthew Moorehead, several brothers and sisters and a stepson Bill Connell.
Calling hours will be from 2-6pm on Wednesday May 4 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11am in The Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Joab Rowland officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Poplar Forks Cemetery.
