William Edward Wilson Sr.

William Edward Wilson Sr., 79, of Zanesville, OH, passed away on Friday February 13, 2026, at Highland Oaks of McConnelsville.

He was born on December 6, 1946, in Fairview, WV to the late Clarence and Ina Day Wilson. He was owner and operator of Wilson Roofing, established in 1978 and retired after 45 years. He was a dedicated hard worker and would try to find time to hunt and fish.  

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda Waggoner Wilson;  children: Scott C. Shinkle (Sue), Kevin L. Shinkle, Christina Marie Gerard (Pete) and Heather S. Collins (Perry); 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers: Joe Wilson (Debbie), Claude Wilson, Otto Wilson (Lillian) and Bernard Wilson (Rhonda); sisters: Audrey White, Judy Holcomb (Ed), Aretta Barker (Terry), Connie Rota, Martha Green, Wanda Barnes and Bernice Rota; a daughter-in-law, Michelle; a sister-in-law Cindy Wilson; and a half-sister Iva Eakle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son William Wilson Jr. “Billy”; a brother Rick Wilson; sisters: Deloris Ferrell, Edna Kropp and Shirley Wilkins; brothers-in-law: Bob White, Nolan Ferrell, Bill Kropp, Floyd Wilkins, Sam Rota, Jim Green and Larry Rota.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM on Wednesday February 18, 2026, in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Titus Byer officiating.  Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
