William Goode “Bill” Godwin, 79, formerly of Zanesville passed away on Saturday October 11, 2025, in Wooster, Ohio.
Bill was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 18, 1945, to the late Paul and Mildred Johnston Godwin. Bill received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Indiana University and was employed by the Licking County Department of Developmental Disabilities for many years. He had a passion for reading, music, learning, and was a very hard worker. He enjoyed Indiana Hoosiers basketball, giving people small gifts, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Bill loved the Lord and worshiped faithfully at Maranatha Bible Church and Joy Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school for many years. He served our country and protected our freedom in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Jones Godwin; a son Aaron (Jamie) Godwin; two daughters: Sarah (Bob) Leathley and Anna Godwin; and five grandchildren: Michael Godwin, Stephen Godwin, Christopher Godwin, Ben Leathley, and Hannah Leathley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son United States Marine Corporal Todd Godwin; a brother Paul Godwin Jr; and a sister Hope Godwin.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15 from 10am to 11 am at Joy Baptist Church, 11095 Old Lincoln Way, Orrville, Ohio 44667. Funeral services will be held at 11am with Bill’s brother-in-law Pastor Rick Searls officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Honors.
