Pauline Yvonne Vargo passed away peacefully on November 11th, 2017 at the Genesis Morrison House Hospice facility in Zanesville, Ohio. She was born on July 24, 1931 to Dorothea and Michael Fusek of Canfield, Ohio. A member of the Canfield Methodist Church, Pauline graduated from Canfield High School where she played the saxophone and drums in the school band. She continued her study of music at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, where she received a bachelor degree in music education. After graduation, Pauline taught music in elementary schools in Willoughby and Berea, Ohio and piano lessons to individual students.
On October 24, 1959, she married Albert Vargo. After having a daughter, Maria, and a son, David; Al and Pauline moved to Marietta, Ohio, where they resided for the next 51 years. Pauline was an active member of the community, volunteering at the Betsy Mills Club and the Welfare League. She enjoyed playing bridge, collecting antiques, gardening and arranging flowers. Pauline was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family and friends.
Pauline is survived by her husband, Al Varga; her children: Maria (John) Thomas of Zanesville, Ohio and David (Minnie) Vargo of Worthington, Ohio; four grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah and Olivia Thomas and Sophia Vargo; two sisters: Carolyn Wehr of Deep River, CT and Margaret Jean Mielke of Zelienople, PA and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service celebrating Pauline’s life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Marietta, Ohio at noon on November 18th, 2017. The family will greet friends and relatives at the church starting at 10:00 a.m. until the service. All are invited to help us celebrate the life of this very special lady.
